• The film does not play on my machine when I click on the file.
You may not have a compatible media player installed on your device. You could try using the free VLC player (
available here), which is compatible with PC, Mac and Android systems.
• The film plays but tends to "stutter", and fails to play smoothly.
It's possible that your machine does not have a fast enough processor to run the film. Try closing down any open programs or files. If it still won't play smoothly, you may need to transfer the film to another computer (e.g. via USB stick) and play it back on a faster machine.
• The mp3/video won't play on my iPhone/iPad.
Some iPhone's don't always play mp3's by default and it's also not usually possible to download items (such as pdf's, mp3's etc) onto an iPhone or iPad because the browser does not have a download manager (unlike PC browsers). To solve this problem, several third-party apps have been produced to enable downloading and storage of files onto Apple devices. One of the most popular ones is "Documents 5", available by
clicking here on your Apple device (or search for "Documents 5" in the Apple app store).
Once you have downloaded the software, here's what you need to do:-
1. On the link in the email we sent you for the download hold down your finger on the link. This will open a small menu. Select "Copy".
2. Open Documents 5 app and select "Browser" in the menu on the left-hand side. Delete the "about:blank" in the address bar, and then hold down your finger in the address bar, and click on "paste". Then hit "Go" (return). This will then download the mp3 or video file onto your machine. (Remember you might have to wait several minutes if you are downloading a video as these are very large files!)
3. Next click on the small menu icon in the top lef-hand corner of the app, and select "Documents". Your file should now appear here. Now click on this file to play it. Return to this app to play or retrieve any files that you have downloaded.
