Mourning Prayer
(a prayer poem for those grieving the loss of a loved one)
I walk the path of sorrow, with fresh tears in my eyes,
And loss is here beside me every night.
Yet I know that your love endures, with resurrection life
And heaven is so close, your hope shines bright.
And so I bury deep within your Father hearted love,
I let you lead my gaze up to the sky.
I drink the fountain of the dawn to fill my troubled mind,
And watch the birds lift their wings to fly.
I do not walk this path alone but close to you each day.
And as I sleep I keep your hand in mine.
And trust that you can lead me through, each dark and lonely night
'Till heaven calls me home to love divine.
Prayer for Comfort in Grief
Julie Palmer leads us in a prayer for comfort and strength for all those who are currently mourning the loss of a loved one:
A prayer for a grieving family
O Lord,Come and presence yourself with this family. Comfort them in their loss, hold them in their sorrow and sustain them through their grief. Enfold them all with your love Lord that they may rest within your arms. Watch over their sleep and take their hands each morning as they face a new day. Bind their hearts as one and bless their relationships. Might they be united in their loss but also blessed with smiles and goodness. Lead this precious family onwards to embrace life together, yet hold on to the promise of heaven.

My heart is broken and my spirit mourns.
All I know is that Your grace is sufficient.
This day, this hour
Moment by moment
I choose to lean on You,
For when I am at my weakest Your strength is strongest.
I pour out my grief to You
And praise You that on one glorious day
When all suffering is extinguished and love has conquered
We shall walk together again.
