thursday morning prayer
As you begin this day, it is great to give thanks and praise to our Lord, the Master of all. We pause to remind ourselves that all good things come from Him, and we live in His kindness and faithfulness. On this page are two
Thursday morning prayers to help recall these truths, as well as a
short night prayer for the evening and a some
bible verse blessings from Psalm 95 to help guide your devotions. Once a year we also celebrate “Holy Thursday”, and here's a look at what this day means:
What happens on Holy Thursday?
Holy Thursday falls once a year during Holy Week, and proceeds Good Friday. On this day we remember that Christ shared his final meal with his disciples, known as the “Last Supper”. Here he gave some special instructions: that when his followers share bread together, they remember His body given for them, and when they drink wine, they will recall the forgiveness that is offered through his sacrificial death (
Matthew 26:26-30). This meal is now referred to in the church as “Holy Communion”, “Mass” or “The Eucharist”, and is celebrated on a regular basis.
Thursday morning prayer
Lord on this day I remember that You go before me, so I pause to meditate on Your promises. Thank You Lord that You go with me, You lay a pathway, You watch over me like a shepherd. So I give You my fears, worries and anxieties. I lay all tension and stress at the foot of the cross. Thank You that You arose from the death, and that You bring life, freedom, hope and the promise of Heaven! Praise You that I am safe in Your presence. Amen.
May Thursday be a hope filled day,
That floods my fears with light,
A day that quiets all anxious thoughts
As I encounter Christ.
Let Thursday always prompt my heart
To stop and find Your peace,
And live upon the truth You give
My eyes to You I lift.

Thursday morning prayer of thanks
Living Lord,
Help me to drink in your goodness this day.
To notice the sweetest birdsong,
To feel the breeze that blows in the trees,
To appreciate the tastes and sweet aromas of food,
To see the little miracles of life around me,
From the riches in the earth to the clouds on high.
Lord, let this day be one of thanksgiving and praise.
Amen.
Oh come, let's sing to the LORD. Let's shout aloud to the rock of our salvation. Let's come before his presence with thanksgiving. Let's extol him with songs.
For the LORD is a great God, a great King above all gods. In his hand are the deep places of the earth. The heights of the mountains are also his. The sea is his, and he made it. His hands formed the dry land.
Oh come, let's worship and bow down. Let's kneel before the LORD, our Maker, for he is our God. We are the people of his pasture, and the sheep in his care.
Psalm 95:1-7a (NHEB)
Thursday Night Prayer
Abba Father, comfort my soul tonight, come sing a new song of strength and compassion over me. Thank you for the beauty of creation, thank you that you have spoken to me today through the wonderful colours and sights you have created. Lead me in your ways, so that as I sleep tonight, I might carry the promise of eternity deep within me. Amen.
