midday prayer
This page has three contemporary prayers to say as you pause at around noon to spend time with the Lord. There is an inspiring prayer poem entitled "Midday Moment", reflecting on the morning that has gone and offering the rest of the day to Him, and a short midday prayer. There is also a beautiful worship film for meditation ("Dwell", based on Psalm 91) and an uplifting prayer for the afternoon ahead.
Midday Moment
You're with me every morning, beside me all the way,
You know my joy, and worries, cares or needs.
Every minute of each hour your grace flows over me,
Your love and truth connect with all I feel.
And at this midday moment, I choose to talk with you,
To draw so close to you, my heavenly dad.
For what is past is covered by your all redeeming love,
And the future's filled with hope, so I'll be glad.
I'll lift my eyes up to the sky and a sight so beautiful,
I'll let your light come brighten up the grey,
And wait upon your spirit Lord to blow upon my life.
So come, move through me as I live the rest of this day.
For your kingdom changes everything, it touches all I am,
In everything I think and say or do.
I choose to fix my eyes on you, to take hold of your hand,
I give this midday moment Lord to you.

Short Midday Prayer
Dear Father God,
At this midday hour, I give thanks to you for the morning that has passed. I reflect upon the blessings I have been given today. Thank you for the beauty that is all around me, the relationships I treasure, and the goodness and security of walking with you.
Lord may your spirit lead me and guide me through this afternoon. I choose to turn my eyes to you and seek your face. I lay before you the concerns I have, the challenges that are before me and the tiredness I can sometimes feel. Come refill my life, my heart and my soul with your everlasting power. Please work through me to bring blessing and peace to all those I meet today.
May every coming hour be filled with your presence Lord.

Midday worship meditation
"Dwell" is about leading you to a place of stillness and intimacy before God. This inspiring reflection is suitable to use in personal prayer devotion at Midday or early in the afternoon. The meditation is based on the opening words to Psalm 91 "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High, will rest in the shadow of the Almighty" (Ps 91:1, NIV):-
Afternoon Prayer
O Lord, help me to be fully alive in this moment.
Right now I choose to become
Everything that you have created me to be.
Face to face, I long for you.
Deep to deep, I draw close to you.
Heart to heart, I touch you.
May I feel your perfect love
Know Your heavenly hope
And receive your gift of faith.
May this moment stay with me
For the rest of this day.
Amen.
